No matter how much I love Hamburg and sometimes miss it and whish I would still live there; I this time realised I can not live there nor in Germany at all. Germany is just too traditional and conservative when it come to gender relations. The old sterotype gender roles are still valid there to a much higher extent than in Sweden (Scandinavia). Of course there are far worse places than Germany and Hamburg is still far less conservative then the south of the country, but no matter... It is far to traditional in this respect. And regarding other more conservative countries, there I would probably be so dfferent that I just could not blend in and fully take part in the every day life. In Germany I could and would be expected to. No one can tell from they way that I look that I am not German and if I don't speak too much nor do I sound Swedish. Therefore I think my Swedish values would give me a though time to integrate. I would also expect people to be more modern and enlighted and would probably be constantly disappointed. It is a pity!
But this is actually one of the (sometimes not so many) things I love with being Swedish and live here!
